How to save an Instagram Reel's audio as MP3
Instagram's Save audio button bookmarks a sound so you can use it in your own Reel, but it does not give you a file. To keep the audio of a Reel on your phone or computer, convert the Reel to MP3. Here is how, and what quality to expect.

Save audio keeps the sound inside Instagram
Tap the audio name at the bottom of a Reel to open its audio page, then tap Save audio. The sound appears in your Saved collection under Audio, ready to use when you make a Reel. It is the right choice if you want to use a trending sound in your own video, and it respects the music licensing Instagram has in place.
It does not put an audio file on your phone. For that, convert the Reel.
Convert the Reel to MP3 with VidiDown
- In Instagram, tap Share on the Reel, then Copy link.
- Open Instagram to MP3 and paste the link. MP3 is already selected.

What quality to expect
The MP3 is a high-quality variable-bitrate encode, typically about 190 kbps for music and less for speech. It cannot sound better than the audio Instagram serves, which is already compressed. If a Reel has no audio track at all, VidiDown says so instead of creating a silent file.
Where the MP3 goes
On iPhone, Safari saves it to Files → Downloads; open it there to play or share it. On Android, look in the Download folder. On a computer, it lands in your Downloads folder and plays in any music app.
Use music fairly
Songs in Reels usually belong to artists and labels. Keeping a clip for your own listening is different from re-uploading it or using it in your own content. To use a song in a Reel, use Instagram's Save audio, which handles the licence for you.

Questions
Can I download a song from an Instagram audio page?
No. VidiDown converts the audio of one Reel or video from its link. Audio pages, playlists and Stories are not supported.
Why does VidiDown say the Reel has no audio?
Some Reels are silent, or Instagram serves them without a sound track. There is nothing to convert, so try the video instead.
Is the MP3 the same quality as the original song?
No. It is converted from the Reel's audio, which Instagram compresses. It is usually good for listening, but not studio quality.
