How to download a Facebook video

One link. Three steps.

  1. 1

    Open the video or Reel

On Facebook, open the individual video. Use its sharing options to copy a link. Avoid copying a Page, profile, group or feed address.

  2. 2

    Paste a public video link

Paste the copied address above. Public video pages, Reels, Facebook video share links and fb.watch links use the same form.

  3. 3

    Preview the prepared file

Select Get video. Check the preview, file size and audio information, then choose Download video to save it before expiry.

Facebook videos, Reels and share URLs

A Facebook video can have a Watch address, a Page video URL, a Reel link or a short share address. The link must identify one accessible video. You do not need to change a supported fb.watch or /share/v/ link by hand.

Before you download

Private groups, friends-only posts, Stories and videos that require a Facebook login cannot be downloaded here. VidiDown cannot access a video just because your Facebook account can view it.

Can I save a completed Facebook Live?

Use its public video or replay link after the broadcast has ended. Enable Long video / completed replay if needed. Removed videos, private audiences and broadcasts still in progress are not supported.

Can I download Facebook Reels?

Yes, individual public facebook.com/reel/ links and supported Reel share links are accepted. The same file-size, duration and access limits apply to Reels and other videos.

Can I download a video from a private Facebook group?

No. VidiDown only requests publicly accessible content and never asks for your Facebook password or session cookies.

Will the download include sound?

When the source provides a compatible audio track, it is included in the prepared video. If the result has no audio, VidiDown displays a note. It cannot recreate audio that the source does not provide.

Why does Facebook show the video but VidiDown cannot download it?

Facebook may allow playback in your account while requiring login or restricting server requests. Confirm that you copied a video link and that it is public. A different quality choice cannot bypass a login restriction.

Which links can I use?

Use an individual public video link from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or X. Use a published video or completed replay. Profile pages, private archives, playlists, ongoing streams and photo slideshows are not supported. A public link can still be restricted by its platform.

Is this the original video quality?

Best available selects the highest source quality our download path can retrieve and preserves the streams without re-encoding. A platform may have compressed the creator’s original upload. No paid download API is used. A platform can restrict access from our server. Size and duration limits still apply; if the best file is too large, choose a smaller quality explicitly.

Is VidiDown free?

Yes, VidiDown is free. No account or payment is required. Usage limits help keep the service available.

Why isn’t my video downloading?

The video may require a login, have been removed, exceed the displayed limits, or be restricted by its platform. Check that the individual video opens publicly, try a smaller file, or use another link. VidiDown never asks for your social account password.

Where does the file go on my phone?

On iPhone, check Safari’s downloads and the Files app. On Android, check your browser’s Downloads folder. Once saved, use your device’s share menu to move the file. Playback depends on the original video format.

What happens if I refresh the page?

VidiDown remembers your latest request in this browser tab. Refreshing checks the same download, without submitting a new one. The prepared file stays available until its 30-minute expiry.

Do you keep my videos?

Prepared files expire after 30 minutes and are automatically removed. Only your browser session can access your result. VidiDown does not build a public library of downloads. Read the privacy information.
