How to download an Instagram video

Open the individual post
Find the public video or Reel on Instagram. Open its sharing options and copy the link, or copy the post address from your browser.
Paste the post link
Use the field above. A link containing /p/ or /reel/ identifies a post; a link containing only a username points to a profile and will not work.
Check the video, then download
Choose Get video. When the preview appears, check that it is the clip you wanted and select Download video to save the prepared file.

Before you download
Private profiles, Stories, photos and complete carousel albums are outside this tool. A post being visible in your signed-in Instagram app does not mean our server can access it. VidiDown does not accept Instagram login cookies.
Can I download an Instagram Live replay?
A replay published as an accessible video post can use this downloader. A replay kept only in the creator’s private Live archive cannot be retrieved by pasting a public profile link. Use Instagram’s own export controls for your private archive.
Can I save an Instagram Reel?
Yes. Copy the individual Reel’s link and use this form or the Instagram Reels downloader. The Reel must be public and accessible to our server.
Does this download every item in an Instagram carousel?
No. VidiDown selects the first video in a multi-video post. It does not create a ZIP of the carousel or download its photos.
Can I download a private Instagram video or Story?
No. The service cannot use your signed-in Instagram session and will not ask for your password. Private content and Stories are not supported.
Why does an Instagram link work in the app but fail here?
Your app may be signed in, while VidiDown requests the public video from its server. Instagram may require login, limit requests or restrict that post. Check the post link and try again later if the platform is temporarily unavailable.
Which links can I use?
Use an individual public video link from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or X. Use a published video or completed replay. Profile pages, private archives, playlists, ongoing streams and photo slideshows are not supported. A public link can still be restricted by its platform.
Is this the original video quality?
Best available selects the highest source quality our download path can retrieve and preserves the streams without re-encoding. A platform may have compressed the creator’s original upload. No paid download API is used. A platform can restrict access from our server. Size and duration limits still apply; if the best file is too large, choose a smaller quality explicitly.
Is VidiDown free?
Yes, VidiDown is free. No account or payment is required. Usage limits help keep the service available.
Why isn’t my video downloading?
The video may require a login, have been removed, exceed the displayed limits, or be restricted by its platform. Check that the individual video opens publicly, try a smaller file, or use another link. VidiDown never asks for your social account password.
Where does the file go on my phone?
On iPhone, check Safari’s downloads and the Files app. On Android, check your browser’s Downloads folder. Once saved, use your device’s share menu to move the file. Playback depends on the original video format.
What happens if I refresh the page?
VidiDown remembers your latest request in this browser tab. Refreshing checks the same download, without submitting a new one. The prepared file stays available until its 30-minute expiry.
Do you keep my videos?
Prepared files expire after 30 minutes and are automatically removed. Only your browser session can access your result. VidiDown does not build a public library of downloads. Read the privacy information.
