How to save an Instagram Reel
One link. Three steps.
Copy the Reel’s own link
Open the Reel rather than the creator’s profile grid. Use its sharing options to copy the link. In a browser, copy the address of the open Reel.
Paste the /reel/ address
Paste the link above and select Get video. Choose Best available to use an available source format. A link to a saved collection or profile cannot identify the Reel.
Download the Reel to your device
Check the preview and choose Download video. On mobile, the file may go to your browser’s Downloads or Files app rather than directly into Photos.
Saving a Reel versus bookmarking it
Instagram’s Save action bookmarks a Reel inside Instagram. VidiDown prepares a separate video file for a public Reel you are allowed to download. Bookmarking does not create that file, and downloading does not grant permission to repost someone else’s work.

Before you download
Private Reels, Stories and collections are not supported. VidiDown cannot recover a deleted Reel. Music availability and the resulting audio track depend on the source; check the result’s audio note before saving.
Why is my downloaded Reel not in Photos?
A browser download may be stored in Files or Downloads. Find the saved video there, then use your device’s sharing or save-video option when available. The gallery must support the resulting video format.
Can I save the Reel’s original quality?
VidiDown selects from formats that the source makes available. It cannot restore detail lost when the Reel was uploaded or upscale it into a genuinely higher-quality source. The result displays its actual resolution.
Can I download all of a creator’s Reels?
No. Paste one public Reel link at a time. Profile, collection and bulk downloads are not supported.
Why has a Reel link stopped working?
The creator may have deleted it or changed who can view it. Instagram may also require login or temporarily restrict server access. Reopen the individual Reel and copy its current link; a private or deleted Reel cannot be recovered here.
Which links can I use?
Use an individual public video link from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or X. Use a published video or completed replay. Profile pages, private archives, playlists, ongoing streams and photo slideshows are not supported. A public link can still be restricted by its platform.
Is this the original video quality?
Best available selects the highest source quality our download path can retrieve and preserves the streams without re-encoding. A platform may have compressed the creator’s original upload. No paid download API is used. A platform can restrict access from our server. Size and duration limits still apply; if the best file is too large, choose a smaller quality explicitly.
Is VidiDown free?
Yes, VidiDown is free. No account or payment is required. Usage limits help keep the service available.
Why isn’t my video downloading?
The video may require a login, have been removed, exceed the displayed limits, or be restricted by its platform. Check that the individual video opens publicly, try a smaller file, or use another link. VidiDown never asks for your social account password.
Where does the file go on my phone?
On iPhone, check Safari’s downloads and the Files app. On Android, check your browser’s Downloads folder. Once saved, use your device’s share menu to move the file. Playback depends on the original video format.
What happens if I refresh the page?
VidiDown remembers your latest request in this browser tab. Refreshing checks the same download, without submitting a new one. The prepared file stays available until its 30-minute expiry.
Do you keep my videos?
Prepared files expire after 30 minutes and are automatically removed. Only your browser session can access your result. VidiDown does not build a public library of downloads. Read the privacy information.
