Most free downloaders do the same basic job. What separates them is everything around the download: ads, notification prompts, app pushes, how many platforms one site covers and whether you can save just the audio.

- A clean page. No display ads, pop-ups, redirects, notification prompts or app pushes when the page loads.
- Platforms on one site. How many of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X the same website handles, without sending you to a sister site.
- MP3 on the same site. Whether you can save a video’s audio as MP3 without a second tool.
- No account. Whether you can download without signing up or logging in.
- Preview before saving. Whether the site says it shows you the file before you download it.
- Clear privacy. Whether the site states how long it keeps your link and file, in terms you can check.

The tools, one by one
1. VidiDown (ours)
Best for: One clean site for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X videos, or their audio as MP3.
What we saw: No ads, notification prompt or app promotion on load. It shows a preview with the file’s actual resolution, size and codec before you save, keeps prepared files for 30 minutes, and only the browser that requested a file can open it. Video streams are copied without re-encoding.
Watch out for: No YouTube, Stories, photo posts or slideshows. Fewer languages than the established tools. MP3 is a conversion, so the audio is re-encoded. It is a new site.
2. SSSTik
Best for: TikTok only, with a dedicated TikTok MP3 page and many languages.
What we saw: Display ads filled on load and an “Install App” link to Google Play. Other platforms are handled by sister sites on separate domains.
Watch out for: One platform per site. It advertises “No Watermark!” and HD downloads; we did not test those claims.
3. SSSTwitter
Best for: X videos and X-to-MP3 on a long-established site.
What we saw: Display ads filled on load and an “Install App” link to Google Play. It links to sister sites for TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
Watch out for: One platform per site. Its only statement about storage, that videos come “directly from the Twitter CDN”, is ambiguous.
4. SnapSave
Best for: Facebook, Instagram and TikTok in many languages.
What we saw: Display ads on load and a promotion for its “SnapX” Android app. X and Threads appear in its menu but linked to the homepage when we checked.
Watch out for: No MP3 option on the site. Quality claims of up to 4K were not tested.
5. SnapTik
Best for: TikTok in many languages, if you are happy to use its app or website.
What we saw: Display ads on load and a section promoting its iPhone app. It says an audio button appears after you paste a link; we did not test that.
Watch out for: One platform. “No watermark, HD quality” is its own claim and was not tested.
6. FastDL
Best for: Instagram in many languages.
What we saw: Display ads on load. The page says there is no app to install, but its footer links to an APK download.
Watch out for: Instagram only and no MP3. It says it wipes links and files from its cache; that cannot be checked from outside.
7. SnapInsta
Best for: Instagram in many languages.
What we saw: Display ads on load and a section promoting its Android app.
Watch out for: Instagram only and no MP3. Claims of up to 4K were not tested.
8. FDOWN
Best for: Facebook videos on one of the oldest dedicated sites.
What we saw: Display ads on load and a Chrome extension promoted in its navigation, with a long extension update log on the homepage.
Watch out for: Facebook only, no MP3 and fewer languages than most competitors.
9. SaveFrom.net
Best for: YouTube and many other sites that VidiDown does not support.
What we saw: It asked for permission to show notifications as soon as the page loaded, in both of our checks, and promotes a browser extension and a direct APK download. It has MP3 pages, but its own FAQ says it does not convert audio.
Watch out for: The notification request and app pushes. Its page loads a third-party script that we believe belongs to a push or pop-under ad network, though we could not confirm whose it is.
When VidiDown is not the right choice
You need YouTube. VidiDown does not support YouTube. Of the tools we checked, SaveFrom.net does.
You want Stories, photos or slideshows. VidiDown handles videos only. Several dedicated Instagram and TikTok tools offer more content types.
You prefer an app or a language we do not offer. Most established tools offer Android apps and 18 to 25 languages. VidiDown is a website with four languages on some pages.
How we checked
We loaded each homepage in a browser on 14 October 2026 and waited without clicking anything, recording ads, redirects, notification prompts and app or extension promotions. We did not paste links into other tools, so we did not test their download quality, watermark removal, preview or file storage; claims about those are their own. Pop-ups that appear only after a click were not tested, and ads can differ by country.
Questions
Which video downloader has the fewest ads?
Of the nine tools we checked on 14 October 2026, VidiDown was the only one with no ads, notification prompt or app promotion on page load. Every other tool showed display ads or, in SaveFrom.net’s case, asked to send notifications.
Is there one downloader for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X?
VidiDown handles all four on one site, with video or MP3 for each. SnapSave covers Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. The SSSTik and SSSTwitter family covers several platforms, but through separate websites.
Do these sites remove watermarks?
Several claim to. We did not test it, because that means submitting links to their tools. VidiDown saves the version the platform provides and does not promise a watermark-free file.
